My Poor Husband

September 4, 2009

J.D started teaching again on Monday. I’m not trying to elicit sympathy from those of you with two weeks vacation per year (please hold on to your virtual tomatoes) BUT he’s feeling kind of blasted by this whole work thing. And when that happens, his mouth explodes into one giant canker sore and there is a four sentence comprehension lag. Thus, he finds it much easier to communicate with James because James likes to repeat the same word seventeen times. So while my interactions with James are reminiscent of a broken record, J.D. is able to have fairly fluent conversations.

Anyhow, I tried calling our doctor’s office yesterday to book J.D. an appointment. I have only ever managed to get through twice in the past, probably because their answering machine message goes something like this:

Hello, you’ve reached the office of Dr. So and So. Our phone hours are 9:30 – 3:30 Monday through Wednesday with a five hour break for lunch somewhere in there. We are closed Thursday and open Friday from 10 am until 10:05 am. Please note that we do not accept voice mail, nor do we answer our phones. Ever. If this is an emergency, or anything else medically related, please call someone else. Thank you and have a frustrating day.

They once booked me an appointment at 12:15pm, no joke, and when I got there, they had closed up for lunch. FORTY FIVE MINUTES EARLIER.

So J.D., while you wait for physical healing, here is a little bit of mental torment: Behold, the summer:

Kluane Lake, Yukon Territory.
