Jam, Pigeons, and Fried Cheetah

February 25, 2010

One of James’ favorite (and also environmentally friendly) activities is to open the fridge door as wide as possible whilst determining his next snack. – even though he just ate five minutes ago. I don’t think there is a waking moment in James’ day when that statement is not true. Yesterday I told him to pick a vegetable. He hummed and hawed, poked the cauliflower and then announced that his vegetable of choice was jam.

For Christmas James received “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” It’s a pigeon trying to convince your kid to let him drive a bus. Your kid is, of course, supposed to emphatically deny the pigeon his desire. Unfortunately James is a Yes Man. The premise of the book falls apart for us at page one.

I made a felt board for James and the other day he was taking his felt Elmo for a walk when a felt cheetah began to stalk Elmo. I told James he had to save poor felt Elmo. He promptly brought out the felt frying pan and Elmo had felt Cheetah for lunch. If only we could solve all life’s problems in this fashion.
