Death Beds and Alaska

Last week our little family unit was assailed by gastrointestinal ninjas. We were most concerned about James because the only thing he wanted to eat was salad dressing and Tylenol. But last night he ate more perogies than me so I think we’re in the clear.

I’m sorry for my absence but the blog’s priority was right under moaning and writhing, so….

Here are a couple of photos from last week.

Yes. This is James going in on a spoon full of broccoli. To him, it’s just a delicious mouthful of soybean oil and additives.

Kitchen utensils did most of the child-minding last week.

We did a day trip to Skagway, Alaska on Saturday.

The cruise ships don’t start arriving until next week so it was a fairly low key day of watching jewelery store owners paste promotional posters in their windows for diamonds that cost just about as much as what people are paying to cruise there.

We hiked up to a small lake. James fell asleep in the backpack but J.D. slipped on a patch of ice five minutes later and James bit his tongue and woke up screaming. He recovered fairly quickly but couldn’t figure out why I kept trying to get him to take a second nap. “Lay off woman, I JUST had one. Why don’t YOU take a nap?!”

The tide was out so we did some beach combing and absorbed a few positive ions. I don’t know what that means but my mother swears by it.

James eventually did pass out in his stroller but not until almost five o’clock. Which meant he woke up cranky and just in time for the two and a half hour drive back home. Fun times.

I know. There may be some overlap between spring here and spring everywhere else in the world. Bizarre.

    I love this line:

“diamonds that cost just about as much as what people are paying to cruise there.”

I like your style of writing in that you exaggerate things, but this is not an exaggeration, it’s so true!! I can’t get over the prices on all that jewellery!

    Hope you’re feeling better,
    Katie

    ah, the benevolent cations… 🙂
we took videos of our daughter begging for broccoli and saying she likes it better than pizza 🙂
boooo – gastro-intestinal ninjas 😦 bad enough to get them, much worse when the progeny does; approaching badness infinity when the whole family has them. must be some sort of rite of passage…
hehe – salad dressing and tylenol 🙂 hope you gave him something good like raspberry vinaigrette or thousand island or something with chipotle, which is excellent with tylenol. 🙂 poor James.
ocean1 is awesome, other than the crater in the center, but i’m a guy so i may be biased 🙂
