Please Do Not Touch or Climb on This Blog Post

October 5, 2011

We met up with Oscar, Lucy, and Colleen at the Yukon Transportation Museum this afternoon. On our way there, James informed me that he was going to cry when it was time to leave. Very thoughtful of him to warn me.

Museums are generally more of an exercise in creative ways to tell your preschooler that he/she is not allowed to touch and/or climb anything in a place full of stuff that would be awesome to touch and/or climb.  However, there were a few places James and Oscar were allowed to put their bodies and not just their eyes. But, do Colleen and I know anything more about transportation in the Yukon than we did before going? No, we do not. We probably know less. But we didn’t have to pay admission so we won’t begrudge the children for our atrophying brains. Not today anyway.

This was James’ rendition of the whole experience. His favorite part was when Oscar tried to arrest him next to the police car. He managed to escape by screaming and hurling himself to the floor, stunning officer Oscar into an unintentional release. He didn’t cry when we left, by the way. I am much too smart for that nonsense. <insert bribe here>
