About

Well hello there. I’m Claire and my blog is an account of the blunders and triumphs of motherhood. And also Clairehood.

J.D. is my math teacher of a husband,  James is our four year old son and Jasper is our two year old elephant calf. Oscar and Elijah make frequent guest appearances, and are James’ partners in crime.

We live in Whitehorse which is in the Yukon (Canada, top left). You might think it is winter here six months of the year. You are wrong. It is winter here eight months of the year.

I have a degree in elementary education from the University of Victoria which is in B.C. (Canada,  bottom left). I took six years and many government student loans to get this degree and used it for a total of six months. I am now a full-time permanent stay at home mum which took nine months and pays nothing. Generally, my husband does the math in this family. We are currently working on the logistics of making a single income look sexy.

Mumologic is a blog for those of us who regularly rely on reason derived from sleep deprivation and hormonal imbalance. Have a look around, leave a comment,  send me an email, go get a coffee. Eat a pastry, for that matter. Or perhaps a nap is what you were looking for. Anything else I can help you with?

Seriously, Claire. Every single post cracks me up…well done. Well DONE. Miss you, love. Say hi to JD for me!! And give James a kiss – although I’ve never met him 🙂

James actually welcomes lip action from strangers. It’s something we hope resolves itself over time.

    Hi Claire,

    Moly!
Everyone said we would love you guys, (everyone being the youngish catholic crowd you left behind in Vic shortly before we arrived) and I’m actually pretty sure I love you already! When is the last time I laughed this hard? I am not sure.
I am mama to 4 month old Seraph and wife to 25 yr old Nathan… and we’re ec’ing too…
Which is enough in common to make me feel like I’m sharing an inside joke with you every other line, basically.
Maybe someday I’ll meet you. Or maybe we can be internet friends. Or maybe I will just read your blog and laugh out loud while I get peed on…

    Thanks!
    Ashley.

Howdy Raquael, I just added the email subscription widget to the right sidebar. Let me know if it doesn’t work. Cheers!

Guess I’m not the only one who loves Thai chicken! I also love your writing style – very humorous. I’m guessing our kids are close in age – mine will be 2 in May.

    Hi Claire,

I started reading your blog from your chicken recipe link. I am really enjoying it, your writing style is very funny. I too am Canadian (living in the US) and love hearing and seeing pictures from the Yukon (somewhere I always wanted to live). I noticed that you referred to Oscar as James’s surrogate twin, and they look quite a bit alike. What do you mean by surrogate twin?
    🙂

Thanks for reading! J.D. and I met Oscar’s parents in our prenatal class together so they’ve known each other since before birth. (They are only two weeks apart) They are best buds and I take care of Oscar a few days a week. Love that kid.

I love your attitude. I am a mother of nine who nursed at least till 18 months and sometimes till two. I just started a blog wriitng mostly humourous stories about living with nine kids, pets, farm animals and wild life on a hobby farm. I’m computer illiterate but slowly learning. I tried to get on wordpress but the computer would not accept my blog address? thank-you for your time and especially for your demeanor, again I love it.I f you have time, an article written in the Ottawa Citizen, will give you an idea of my life.” Melanie Juneau”s Juggling Act”
